Storm Lake KCs support Hope for Life

The Storm Lake area Knights of Columbus partnered with St. Mary Parish in Storm Lake to support Hope for Life (formerly Cornerstone for Life), the Storm Lake area pregnancy support center for women and families in need. 

This year’s contribution included a $500 monetary donation, raised entirely through the Knights’ ongoing can-redemption initiative, as well as a full truck bed of diapers collected by the faithful of St. Mary’s. Together, these gifts will help Hope For Life continue offering essential items and compassionate support to expectant mothers and young families.
 
Representatives from Hope For Life expressed deep gratitude for the donation, noting that diaper needs alone place a significant financial strain on many families seeking assistance. The center plans to distribute the diapers immediately through its material-support program, while the monetary gift will help fund client services, parenting resources and emergency resources.
 
Grand Knight Alex Berry praised the dedication of both the Knights and the St. Mary’s community. 

“Respect Life Month reminds us that supporting life means walking with families in practical, meaningful ways,” he said. “We’re proud to stand with Hope For Life and the vital work they do.”
 
The Knights’ can-drive—an ongoing effort—invites community members to drop off redeemable cans and bottles, with proceeds supporting local charities. Parishioners at St. Mary’s added their own show of support by organizing a diaper collection throughout October.  
 
Hope For Life, located at 800 Oneida St., Suite 4 in Storm Lake, continues to offer free pregnancy testing, ultrasound services, counseling, and material support to local families. Staff and volunteers encourage community members to stay involved through donations, volunteerism, and prayer. They can also be reached by calling (712) 299-1707.  
 
As Respect Life Month concluded, the partnership between the Knights of Columbus, St. Mary’s parishioners, and Hope For Life stands as a reminder that small acts of kindness—whether saving cans or picking up a pack of diapers—can have a powerful impact on families in need in the community.
