A special collection is taken up annually at the Masses in the four Sioux City parishes to help purchase groceries and household items for the Carmelite Nuns of Sioux City. The dates for the 2026 collection are the Jan. 17 and 18, 2026.
While this upcoming collection is for the Sioux City parishes, hundreds of individuals and families from the diocese and throughout the country help support the sisters. Two areas of involvement include membership in the Carmel Guild and Carmelite Peace Cards.
Donations can also be sent to the Carmelite Nuns at the address below.
Membership in the Carmel Guild is open to any individual or family who makes an enrollment offering of $2 for an individual or $5 for a family. Enrolled members receive a Mass offered for them monthly, share in all the prayers of the Liturgy of the Hours each day, are remembered in 36 novena masses each year, and in case of death, are remembered in prayers for the dead for one year.
Peace Cards may be purchased for 25 cents each and given to anyone in need of prayers during times of sorrow or celebration. The Peace Cards contain a prayer intention card that is filled out and returned to the Carmelite Monastery with an optional donation for prayerful remembrance of the individual or family. Peace Cards are available at each church.
