Diocesan schools mark the feast of the Epiphany, celebrated the weekend of Jan. 3 and 4 this year.
Denison St. Rose of Lima students were asked to bring a wrapped baby gift to the local Baby Boutique where mothers can access items. As a school snack, students had donuts and looked for a hidden gummy bear, representing the baby Jesus for Three Kings Day. Katherine, a third grade student found it in her donut and received gifts of "gold."
Father Zach Jones, chaplain for Algona Bishop Garrigan Schools showed students how to mark doorways for the Epiphany. Her chalked all the interior and exterior doorways.
This blessing involves writing the year along with the letters C, M, and B for the names of the three Magi - Caspar, Melchior, and Balthasar - and abbreviation of the Latin for "May Christ Bless this House" (Christus mansionem benedicat).
