Sixty-six golfers from six high schools participated in the annual CYO golf meet in Fort Dodge on April 30. The Carroll Kuemper Catholic boys and the Algona Bishop Garrigan girls won the team championships at the meet.
The boys meet was extremely close, as Kuemper edged runner-up Le Mars Gehlen Catholic by just one stroke, 328 to 329. Fort Dodge St. Edmond was a close third at 335, followed by Garrigan at 354 and Remsen St. Mary at 373. Braxton Vonnahme of Kuemper, Dylan Lubben of Gehlen, and Ty Mericle of St. Edmond tied for meet medalist with individual scores of 79.
Bishop Garrigan was an easy winner in the girls meet with a team score of 379. Kuemper was second with a 394, followed by Sioux City Bishop Heelan at 410, Remsen St. Mary at 419, Gehlen at 429, and St. Edmond at 573. Addy Beiter of Kuemper was the meet medalist with an individual score of 82. Gabby Buscher of Garrigan edged teammate Hanna Merron by one stroke to earn the runner-up medalist award.
