SPIRIT LAKE – The Iowa Great Lakes Knights of Columbus Council 5043 was presented this week with the prestigious Star Council 2024-2025 award.
Knights of Columbus members received the award from District Deputy Jim Miller at its monthly meeting Dec. 1. Of the 17,000 councils worldwide, fewer than 3,000 local councils receive the award each year. The Star Council award recognizes outstanding achievement in membership, insurance and programming.
The Knights of Columbus at St. Mary Parish, in Council 5043, would like to thank the Lakes Area residents who support its many activities. The proceeds are used to support a variety of needs in Dickinson County, including Coats for Kids at local schools, local food banks, Special Olympics and families in need.
Iowa Great Lakes Council 5043 is one of the most active in Iowa, in the past few years contributing more than $30,000 to local community needs, including Hope Haven, Iowa Helping Hands Fund, Special Olympics, American Wheelchair Mission, the Grotto of the Redemption, Cherish House, as well as to local family, community and parish needs.
