The St. Joseph Arts Council announced the upcoming concert with Father David Hemann on Sunday, June 1 at 4:30 p.m. in St. Joseph Church, 1305 Okoboji Ave, Milford.
Father Hemann will present a meditative, contemplative, with an Irish flavor and a few upbeat surprises concert of his own songs and well-known favorites. Doors will open at 4 p.m. This is a free concert, a free will donation will be accepted.
Father Hemann is known nationally and internationally as a multi-talented singer, songwriter, musician and author. A Fort Dodge native, he has served in Northwest Iowa parishes since his 1985 ordination. Currently he is pastor at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Spirit Lake and St. Joseph Catholic Church, Milford.
He believes that music is the language of people and has shared his musical gifts both nationally and internationally.
One highlight was being a featured artist in the presence of Mother Teresa of Calcutta at the first World Youth Day in Rome. In 2003 Father David co-hosted a teaching/musical series on EWTN that won a UCMVA Unity Award. He also appears on the ESWTN series BACKSTAGE which features Catholic musicians from around the country.
Father David has crafted numerous CDs helping people to pray, bring consolation, the Good News and build the Kingdom of God.
A “Welcome to Okoboji Summer Sundae” reception will follow the concert in the parish center.
The St. Joseph Arts Council, St. Joseph Church said it was proud to host Father David Hemann as part of its series of sacred arts presentations. The arts council expressed gratitude to its sponsor, the Patrice and Rita Leary Foundation.
