Tickets are now available for the FIRE Foundation of Northwest Iowa 5th Annual Fire and Flights Event on Sept. 10 at Marto Brewing Co. in downtown Sioux City with beverages and some light bites. The event runs from 4:30-6:30 p.m. A message from the FIRE Foundation will be presented at 5:30 p.m.
Dr. Ryan Allen, president of the FIRE Foundation board, said this event will help the organization work to achieve its goal to bring inclusive education to the area’s Catholic schools.
“The FIRE Foundation has a lot to celebrate. With your help, we're providing professional development opportunities for our Diocesan teachers and administrators to engage with experts at the University of Notre Dame Program for Inclusive Education, to attend educational conferences and to visit other successful inclusive Catholic schools around the country as a part of our larger FIRE Foundation affiliate network,” he said.
Dr. Allen also noted how the support is helping in the classrooms, too. The FIRE Foundation has partnered with the diocesan Catholic schools to help provide certified special educators and well-trained paraprofessionals to lead students and support staff. Grant funds have benefited students who need specialized adaptive curriculum and technology so learning can be more accessible to all of God's children.
The mission of the Foundation for Inclusive Religious Education, Inc. (FIRE) Foundation of Northwest Iowa is to champion the inclusion of students with disabilities in Catholic schools by providing educational resources, fundraising and promoting a culture of belonging.
