By the Grace of God and the Authority of the Apostolic See
Bishop of Sioux City
DECREE REVOKING THE MERGER OF THE PARISHES OF
ST. JOSEPH IN GRANVILLE, ST. MARY IN ALTON, AND
ST. ANTHONY IN HOSPERS INTO THE
NEWLY ERECTED PARISH OF ST. DONATUS
Willingly encouraging everything in our powers to provide more suitably for the good of souls; And having considered the law and the facts; And having been made aware of the error in procedendo in the decree issued by my predecessor on October 15, 2024, which merged the parishes of St. Joseph in Granville, St. Mary in Alton, and St. Anthony in Hospers into the newly erected parish of St. Donatus; And following the recommendation of the Dicastery for Clergy;
And having determined that the good of souls requires it; I have deemed it necessary and proper to revoke the merger effected by the 15 October 2024 Decree, and by doing so, St. Joseph in Granville, St. Mary in Alton, and St. Anthony in Hospers regain their status as parishes.
This decree is to be effective Friday, August 15, the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
This decree is to be communicated to the pastor, who is the legal representative of the parishes and to all interested persons, according to the norm of law. (c. 532). It may be challenged within the peremptory time limit of ten days from the legitimate notification of the decree and accordance with the norm of law. (c. 1734 §2).
