Catholic schools in the Diocese of Sioux City joined together with schools across the country to celebrate Catholic Schools Week, Jan. 25 to 31.
Schools celebrated this week with a variety of activities ranging from special Masses and prayer services to recreational activities and service. Many use this week as a chance to thank parents for providing the gift of a Catholic education for their children or a time to thank public service workers from their communities.
Bishop John E. Keehner visited several schools throughout the week.
The Diocese of Sioux City is made up of 15 schools/school systems and this year enrollment was up about 2% over last year. There are nearly 6,400 students attending Catholic schools in the diocese.
