Catholic Charities to offer fall English and Spanish Suicide Support Groups

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Sioux City invites community members to participate in its upcoming Fall Suicide Support Groups, offered in both English and Spanish. 

These free support groups are open to adults (18+) who have lost a loved one to suicide at least 30 days prior. Sessions begin Tuesday, Sept. 2. People of all faiths and backgrounds are welcome.
 
Benita Triplett“More people than ever have experienced the heartbreaking loss of someone they love to suicide,” said Benita Triplett, LISW, Clinical Services Director at Catholic Charities. “Through these groups, we aim to offer comfort, hope and a path toward healing.” 

Each group will meet for six consecutive Tuesdays from Sept. 2 through Oct. 7. The English-speaking group will meet from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Catholic Charities (1601 Military Road, Sioux City), co-facilitated by Benita Triplett and Nate Phillips, LMHC, NCC. The Spanish-speaking group will gather from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Epiphany Center, led by Denys Azpeitia, MSW, and Gabriela Valdovinos, LISW.
 
The groups are closed-format, meaning participants will remain consistent throughout the six weeks to foster a safe, supportive and confidential environment. “We want participants to feel comfortable sharing their stories and building ongoing connections that can continue beyond the group,” Benita added.

Catholic Charities te invita a participar en un Grupo de Apoyo por Suicidio

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Sioux City ofrecerá un Grupo de Apoyo por Suicidio y la primera de seis reuniones se realizará el 2 de septiembre.

Denys AzpeitiaEl grupo está abierto a cualquier persona mayor de 18 años que haya perdido a un familiar o amigo por suicidio hace 30 días o más. 

Denys Azpeitia, MSW y Gabriela Valdovinos, LISW facilitarán el grupo y animarán a los seres queridos que luchan por tal pérdida a unirse. “Más personas que nunca han perdido a alguien cercano a ellos por suicidio. A través de este grupo, esperanza y apoyo para seguir adelante en su viaje a través del dolor y la pérdida”.

No tiene coste unirse. Las reuniones serán seis martes consecutivos, del 2 de septiembre al 7 de octubre, de 6 p.m. a 7:30 p.m. en la ubicación de Cathedral de Epiphany Center, 1000 Douglas St., Sioux City (al frente de la iglesia). 

La membresía seguirá siendo la misma durante toda la sesión. Denys explica: "queremos brindar un entorno afectuoso, cómodo y confidencial en el que pueda escuchar, compartir y conectarse con otros para construir un sistema de apoyo continuo".
