Catholic Charities' grand opening for Angeline's Wing set for Feb. 23

Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Sioux City will host a grand opening, blessing and ribbon cutting for Angeline’s Wing for Children and Families on Feb. 23 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. at 1601 Military Road in Sioux City. The program and ribbon cutting will begin at 4 p.m.

This milestone celebration marks the completion of a 7,200-square-foot expansion for specialized youth mental health services, along with a full remodel of Catholic Charities’ existing facility to enhance adult mental health care services. Together, the project represents a transformational investment in accessible, compassionate mental health care for children, adolescents, adults and families across Siouxland and the Diocese of Sioux City.

The event will include a blessing of the new space by Bishop John E. Keehner, remarks from Catholic Charities leadership and project supporters and a ribbon cutting held in partnership with the Siouxland Chamber of Commerce. Community members, donors, partners and the public are invited to attend and tour the new and renovated spaces.
Angeline’s Wing is named in memory of Angeline Thom of Ashton, whose generous estate bequest provided the critical matching dollars for the Missouri River Historical Development Economic Development Match Grant. Numerous additional donors and community partners will also be recognized for their essential role in bringing the vision to life.

Designed by RML Architects and constructed by H and R Construction, Angeline’s Wing was intentionally created to be bright, welcoming and developmentally appropriate for young people. The expansion includes a new entrance and lobby, specialized rooms for play, youth and art therapy; a Parent-Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT) space; group therapy rooms; the Central Bank Family Room for private consultation and conversation (named in recognition of generous Central Bank’s generous contribution to the project), additional therapist offices; and a psychiatrist suite with a private check-in area.

The remodel of the existing facility allows Catholic Charities to better serve adults by enhancing therapy spaces, improving flow and privacy to support healing, dignity and care for clients of all ages.
