Carroll Kuemper takes CYO volleyball championship

Kuemper Catholic High School of Carroll captured the championship at the annual CYO volleyball tournament held recently in Le Mars. 

Sioux City Bishop Heelan High School finished second, followed by Remsen St. Mary High School, Le Mars Gehlen Catholic, Algona Bishop Garrigan and Fort Dodge St. Edmond. 

Elsa Tiefenthaler, Kaylee Simons and Zoe Bruning of Kuemper led the all-tournament team. They were joined by Ireland Jackson and Dara Mollet of Heelan, Brielle Schorg of RSM, Ella Ruhland of Gehlen, Emmi Bartolo of Garrigan and Ella Vandi of St. Edmond.

Six CYO Coaches of the Year were also recognized. They were Bryce Roberts of Heelan for boys golf, Sue Klein of RSM for girls golf, Shaun Ryan of Heelan for boys track, C.J. Tracy of St. Edmond for girls track, Andy Osborne of Heelan for baseball and Bill Shirbroun of St. Edmond for softball.

Former Heelan volleyball coach Lauren Boatman was chosen as the Msgr. Tolan CYO Coach of the Year for the 2024-25 school year.
