Bishop Heelan Catholic Schools in Sioux City is proud to announce the 2025 Hall of PRIDE class, recognizing six outstanding alumni for their contributions to Heelan athletics.
With a tradition of excellence dating back to 1949, the Hall of PRIDE celebrates individuals whose dedication and achievements have left a lasting impact on Crusader athletics, creating lifelong memories for fans, friends and families.
2025 Hall of PRIDE Inductees
Daniel (Dan) LaFleur – Class of 1971 A multi-sport standout, LaFleur earned seven varsity letters at Heelan (14 including his time at Jefferson, SD). He was a two-time letter winner in football, track, and basketball, and a one-time letter winner in baseball. As a team captain in football and track, he placed third in state for shot put (1971) and was named Third Team All-State in football. LaFleur continued his football career at the University of Iowa.
Alan (Al) Jones – Class of 1976 A leader in multiple sports, Jones was a First Team All-State defensive end and punter, contributing to the 1975 State Championship football team. In basketball, he was a Fifth Team All-State selection and earned multiple All-Northwest Iowa and All-City honors. He was named co-MVP of Heelan basketball in 1976 and played collegiately at Wayne State.
Robert (Bobby) Soule – Class of 1983 Soule made history as a four-time state champion in cross country and track. He was the first Iowa Big School Division prep athlete to win both the 800m and 1600m since 1962. Soule ran at Iowa State University, where he won the 1988 Big 8 1500m Championship and was a five-time member of Iowa State’s Big 8 Outdoor Track Championship team. He was later inducted into the Sioux City Relays Hall of Fame.
Jamie (Dardis) Miller – Class of 1999 A dominant force in softball, Miller was a four-time All-State selection (three-time Elite team) and a five-year letter winner. She went on to play collegiately at the University of Kentucky, where she set school records, including a career fielding percentage of .986. She was later inducted into the IGHSAU Hall of Fame.
Brandon Wegher – Class of 2009 One of the most accomplished football players in Iowa high school history, Wegher set multiple state records, including career rushing yards (6,823) and single-season rushing yards (3,238). He led Heelan to the 2008 State Championship and was named MVP of the title game. Wegher played at the University of Iowa and Morningside College, setting numerous school records. He went on to play in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers and the Los Angeles Rams (practice squad) and was inducted into the Iowa High School Football Hall of Fame in 2024.
Zach McCabe – Class of 2010 A two-sport star, McCabe was a three-time All-State selection in basketball and a two-time All-State quarterback. He led Heelan to back-to-back basketball state championships in 2009 and 2010 and set several school records, including career assists. He was a McDonald's All-American Games nominee and played basketball at the University of Iowa, where he was a four-year letter winner and team captain.
