Bishop John Keehner blessed the new tabernacle and by association, rededicated the chapel at the Mary's Choice family planning center.
He celebrated a Mass on the feast of St. Monica as part of the event. Board members, volunteers and supporters attended. Father Andrew Galles, director of worship, was the master of ceremonies. Deacon Richard Port was lector for the Mass.
Bishop Keehner reminded those present that it was fitting and more than a simple coincidence to have the Mass and blessing on St. Monica's feast day as she is "a great example of motherhood, who prayed her son into heaven."
He also noted that St. Monica also shed many tears as she prayed for the conversion of her son. Photo gallery The chapel tabernacle serves as a reminder to all present, the bishop said, "that the task is ours to protect the sanctity of human life," as all are made in the image and likeness of God.
Although 40 Days for Life prayer vigil will not be held, Mary's Choice is encouraging the faithful to pray for an end to abortion and will offer adoration times. Adorers can sign up for their time online HERE
