St. John Church of Arcadia, which is part of Good Shepherd Parish of Breda, is celebrating its 150th anniversary at the end of August. Activities will begin on Aug. 29 and conclude on Aug. 31.
Festivities kick off on Aug. 29 with an all-school St. John's and Holy Cross Schools reunion from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Arcadia American Legion.
On August 30, St. John Church of Good Shepherd Parish in Arcadia will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of the church. Many events throughout the day including a parade, giant inflatables for the kids, Bingo, raffle, food, beer garden and music.
Activities begin with a car show that starts at 8 a.m. and runs until 1:30 p.m. The food stand at St. John's opens at 10 a.m. and a food stand at the Arcadia Fire Station opens at 10:30 a.m. A flag raising will be held at 11 a.m. and various activities will be held until the evening.
The parade begins at 2 p.m. with kids games, Bingo, etc. starting after the parade. There will also be a live and silent auction. One of the items in the auction is a quilt that features the six churches which make up Good Shepherd Parish.
The evening closes with a street dance featuring Wild Ambition from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m.
On Aug. 31, there is a Mass at noon at St. John's with a meal from 1 to 2:30 p.m. featuring Staley's Chicken. A cash raffle drawing will be held at 2 p.m.
