Aid to domestic churches - bishop's letter of support

Easter, 2025

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

May the peace of the Risen Lord be with you.  During this Easter Season we have been reminded in particular of many ways in which the Risen Lord has blessed us.
 
At the same time, we know that not all dioceses and communities are as fortunate.  We find poverty in many forms – spiritual, moral, intellectual, and material which afflicts many people. We are blessed to have the resources and means to help to alleviate at least some of that poverty.
 
As we celebrate the great feast of Pentecost, we are called to be mindful of those in need. Our annual “Aid to Domestic Churches” collection supports the needs of the poor to help build parish and school buildings; train priests, religious, teachers, and catechists for needy communities and dioceses; support evangelization efforts such as Catholic radio programming in several languages; and to address the sources of poverty through carefully chosen localized grants.
 
Our support for this collection supports the USCCB’s Catholic Home Missions program that assists dioceses throughout the United States and its current and former territories that need financial help to sustain core pastoral services and missions of mercy to those they serve.
 
Our support for this collection also assists the USCCB’s Catholic Communications Campaign to support the communication activities of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops and some projects across the United States and abroad.
 
Our support of this collection also assists the USCCB’s Catholic Campaign for Human Development, having a positive impact in vulnerable, under resourced communities across the country.
 
Finally, our support this year helps to support the work of the Military Archdiocese of the United States as they support our men and women who serve our nation in uniform.
 
Please support this collection on June 7-8 in your parish using the offering envelope provided by your parish or writing a check to your parish for this collection.

Queridos Hermanos y Hermanas en Cristo,

Que la paz del Señor resucitado esté con ustedes. Durante este tiempo de Pascua se nos ha recordado en muchas maneras, en particular en cual el Señor Resucitado nos ha bendecido.

Al mismo tiempo, sabemos que no todas las diócesis y comunidades son tan afortunadas. Encontramos la pobreza en muchas formas: espiritual, moral, intelectual y material, que aflige a muchas personas. Tenemos la bendición de tener los recursos y los medios para ayudar a aliviar al menos parte de esa pobreza.

Al celebrar la gran fiesta de Pentecostés, estamos llamados a ser conscientes de los necesitados. Nuestra colecta anual “Ayuda a las Iglesias Domésticas” apoya las necesidades de los pobres para construir edificios parroquiales y escolares; capacitar sacerdotes, religiosos, maestros y catequistas para las comunidades y diócesis necesitadas; apoyar los esfuerzos de evangelización, como la programación de la radio católica en varios idiomas; y abordar las fuentes de la pobreza a través de subvenciones localizadas cuidadosamente seleccionadas.

Nuestro apoyo a esta colecta apoya el programa de Misiones Católicas Locales del USCCB que asiste a las diócesis en todo Estados Unidos y sus territorios actuales y anteriores que necesitan ayuda financiera para mantener los servicios pastorales básicos y las misiones de misericordia para aquellos a quienes sirven.

Nuestro apoyo a esta colecta también ayuda a la Campaña de Comunicaciones Católicas de la USCCB para apoyar las actividades de comunicación de la Conferencia de Obispos Católicos de los Estados Unidos y algunos proyectos en los Estados Unidos y en el extranjero.

Nuestro apoyo a esta colecta también ayuda a la Campaña Católica para el Desarrollo Humano de la USCCB, teniendo un impacto positivo en las comunidades vulnerables y de bajos recursos en todo el país.

Finalmente, nuestro apoyo este año ayuda a apoyar el trabajo de la Arquidiócesis Militar de los Estados Unidos mientras apoyan a nuestros hombres y mujeres que sirven a nuestra nación en uniforme.
