The Archdiocese of Dubuque will celebrate Mass with the Imposition of the Sacred Pallium on Archbishop Thomas Zinkula by His Eminence Christophe Cardinal Pierre, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8. His Eminence will impose the pallium on Archbishop Zinkula. The Mass will be livestreamed for all to view.

Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio of the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA, and president of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has appointed James Bogner of Omaha as the next chair of the National Review Board (NRB). Bogner, who joined the NRB in 2020, succeeds Suzanne Healy, who concluded her term as chair at the conclusion of the bishops’ June 2024 Plenary Assembly. Healy joined the NRB in 2017 and served the four-year term for chair from 2020-24

A dozen Carroll County high school students participated in a pilgrimage visiting seven religious sites, learning about the architecture, history and religious art at each location. The group wasn’t gone for weeks or days – they were gone from home for less than 12 hours.
Director of Evangelization for St. John Paul II Parish in Caroll, EmmaLee Miklosovic, was inspired to organize a trip within Carroll County following brainstorming with religious education directors in her area. She said there were discussions about a deanery-wide pilgrimage, but the group was unable to arrange it for summer 2024.
“I still wanted to do something,” Miklosovic said, acknowledging the close proximity of the historic churches provided a unique opportunity for the parish youth.

With the number of priests serving in parish assignments declining, Msgr. Kevin McCoy is delaying retirement and now serves Humboldt St. Mary Parish and School while remaining as pastor of Holy Trinity in Webster County. Father Ross Caniglia and Father Francis Makwinja will serve as parochial vicars for both parishes under Msgr. McCoy.

St. Gabriel Communications, Ltd. (DBA Siouxland Catholic Radio) received a $15,000 Target Grant from Missouri River Historical Development (MHRD) in May. The grant was invested in equipment and technology upgrades that were necessary to replace the station’s original equipment this summer.
