Some teammates from the Morningside University football team in Sioux City gathered for food and conversation on Nov. 19, a regular weekly gathering. But these young men didn’t do so to talk solely about their stellar season or merely just to hang out. They shared a meal and some heartfelt conversation before breaking into the word of God. Six to nine young men commonly attend the weekly men’s Bible study on Tuesday evenings at Mater Dei Parish’s Immaculate Conception Church located just blocks from the university campus.

Like many who love to sew, LeAnn Tindall of Graettinger was looking around her sewing room years ago and noticed how much fabric was building up. That’s when she decided to share her talents – and the fabric – in a way that could benefit others. “I just got on Google and looked up charity sewing for babies,” she recalled.

The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) gathered for the Fall Plenary Assembly in Baltimore Nov. 11 to 14. The event kicked off with prayer at the Baltimore Basilica of the Assumption. Bishop Walker Nickless attended the plenary and shared some of the highlights from the bishops’ meetings with Lumen Media.

Jefferson St. Joseph Parish in Faith Formation students boxed Cross Catholic Box of Joy boxes on Nov. 6. Thanks to the generosity of our parish members and families; the fifth-12th grade students were able to box 85 boxes, exceeding last year’s numbers. The students have already set a goal of 100 Box of Joy boxes for next year.

Briar Cliff University celebrated the reopening of its newly renovated education classrooms on Nov.18, made possible through a generous $28,501 grant from Missouri River Historical Development and a matched gift from the estate of Genevieve Nachtman, a Briar Cliff alumna. The MRHD Agile Classroom Grant Education Space (Heelan Hall 119) and the Genevieve M. Nachtman Classroom (Heelan Hall 106) are designed to enhance teaching and technology skills, ensuring BCU’s education students are equipped to meet the demands of modern classrooms.

Catholic Daughters of America Court of Our Lady of LaSalette #1585 of Milford held its 12th Annual Veterans Soup Supper on Nov. 2, 2024. A social hour and soup meal was provided to veterans and guests free of charge to thank them for their military service. A program and door prizes rounded out the evening.

A Mass of Remembrance was held Nov. 12 at St. Joseph’s Church in Milford, Iowa. Sponsored by CDA Court of Our Lady of LaSalette #1585, 24 candles were lit for those parishioners and family members who died in the past year.
